A few days ago, an owl landed on our lanai in the middle of the afternoon — not in a distant tree, right outside our glass door. It looked into our home, steady and unhurried, like it had somewhere to be and had already decided this was it. I had been asking for clarity. I had been praying for a sign. And when it came, I didn't have to talk myself into believing it. I just knew. This is what the owl meant to me.
