Your Vibe Is Not Too Much — You’re Just Around People Who Don’t Get It
Because being “too much” is usually just a sign you’re in the wrong room.
At some point, someone has probably labeled you as too much.
Too emotional.
Too sensitive.
Too intense.
Too loud.
Too honest.
And when those words land, they tend to do something sneaky — they make you question yourself.
Before you apologize.
Before you explain.
Before you shrink…
Pause.
Step One: Pause Before You Make Yourself Smaller
That familiar wave of “maybe I am too much”?
That’s your cue to stop — not to edit yourself.
Take a breath. Or don’t.
One grounding option is the 4–4–4–4 breath:
Inhale for 4
Hold for 4
Exhale for 4
Hold for 4
Repeat four times.
But here’s the truth we don’t say enough:
Breathwork isn’t the rule — self-honoring is.
Some moments need stillness.
Some need tears.
Some need silence, music, movement, or a dramatic shower concert.
There is no “correct” way to regulate your nervous system.
There is only the honest way.
Step Two: Meet Yourself With Love (and a Little Humor)
Once the intensity softens — even slightly — this is where compassion comes in.
Not self-improvement.
Not “doing better.”
Just love.
Choose something that tells your nervous system: I matter.
A bubble bath
Time with your kids
A nourishing meal (or takeout — zero guilt)
A decadent dessert
Champagne or a sparkling mocktail
Something that makes you laugh out loud
At Karma Penguin, we believe healing doesn’t have to be heavy.
Joy counts.
Rest counts.
Pleasure counts.
Memes absolutely count.
Sometimes love looks like softness.
Sometimes it looks like laughter.
Sometimes it looks like choosing yourself without explaining why.
Step Three: Rewrite the Story With “I Am”
This goes deeper than surface-level affirmations.
When the “I’m too much” narrative creeps in, return to this:
“I am beautifully, unapologetically myself — and I choose spaces that can hold me.”
You don’t dim your light.
You don’t twist yourself into something more palatable.
You choose rooms that fit your depth.
Now it’s your turn. Start with “I am…” and finish it in a way your body believes.
I am safe to be seen.
I am allowed to take up space.
I am not too much — I am deeply alive.
I am exactly who I’m meant to be.
Say it. Write it. Revisit it when old conditioning shows up uninvited.
Final Reminder
You were never too much.
You were just trying to be understood in rooms that couldn’t meet you.
Your sensitivity isn’t a flaw.
Your emotions aren’t an inconvenience.
Your depth isn’t something to manage.
They’re signals of truth.
And the right people?
They won’t ask you to shrink.
They’ll recognize your light — and reflect it back.
If this resonated, you’re not alone.
